Objective: The paper deeply analyzes the influencing factors of hospitalization costs of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) patients, to provide scientific basis for optimizing the allocation of healthcare resources and improvement of diagnosis-related grouping (DRG) payment strategies. Methods: In this study, 114 cases of adult ECMO patients admitted to the emergency center of a tertiary hospital in Nanjing between January 2020 and December 2022 were examined with retrospective analysis. Using multiple linear regression analysis, the study attempted to identify the main factors affecting patients' hospitalization costs. Results: The study revealed 5 main factors affecting the hospitalization costs of ECMO patients, including the number of days of hospitalization, the duration of ECMO assistance, the mode of treatment, supportive therapeutic measures, and whether or not a tracheotomy was performed. Conclusion: The results of this study provide an important reference in terms of adjusting DRG payment strategies, which can help reduce the burden of treatment on patients and promote the effective utilization of healthcare resources.
